Black Cumin (TQ) for Cancer

The active ingredient in black cumin is thymoquinone (TQ). TQ has an anticancer mechanisms which involves inhibition of proliferation, induction of apoptosis, interruption of cell cycle, generation of reactive oxygen species, prevention of angiogenesis and metastatic spread.

Studies in cholangiocarcinoma, B-cell lymphoma, and colon cancer show inactivation of the NFkB pathway with induction of apoptosis and cell death of the cancer cell. The anti-inflammatory effects include attenuation of cis-platinum chemotherapy toxicity, protection from testicular and hepatic injury and protection from methotrexate chemotherapy.

In 2017, Dr. Pang et al. studied the anti-cancer effects of cumin using acute myeloid leukemia. Cumin was a potent inhibitor of cell proliferation and growth in both in vitro and in vivo mouse models. There was reversal of DNA hyper-methylation which is commonly seen in leukemia.

Dr. Racoma et al., in 2013 studied cumin in glioblastoma cell models. He found there was inhibition of late-stage autophagy with mitochondrial apoptosis and cell cancer death.

Cancer cells have upregulated the gene for hypoxia inducible factor responsible for cell survival, proliferation, angiogenesis, and metastasis found in cancer cells. This results in the activation of mTOR and AMPK which promotes cancer growth. In 2019, Dr. Lee et al. found that black cumin inhibits hypoxia inducible factor and has an anticancer effect. Other natural substances that do this include curcumin, quercetin, resveratrol, and green tea.

It was also found to be effective for cancer stem cells in combination with the chemotherapy drug 5-FU. It was highly effective against CD 133 circulating cancer stem cells

Cumin was effective for the following cancer cell lines: Hepatocellular cancer, B-cell lymphoma, colon cancer, melanoma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, leukemia, osteosarcoma, breast cancer, oral squamous cell cancer, cervical cancer, gastric cancer, glioblastoma, lung cancer, multiple myeloma, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, and renal cell carcinoma.

If you are interested in black Cumin we can help you. We can also evaluate your circulating cancer stem cells, chemosensitivity testing, natural testing, repurposed cancer drugs, low-dose metronomic genomic targeted chemotherapy and cancer vaccines.
